Life story:
Rodrigo has been dancing for seven years and is a key figure in Sydney's house dance scene. His main objective is to expose house dance, teach it and help others appreciate and share it. He is also working with local house music DJ's to make the scene even tighter through jams and club events.
Rodrigo studied house dance from house dance pioneers such as E-Joe Wilson (danced in videos for Mariah Carey and Will Smith), Marjory Smarth, and Brian 'Footwork' Green (choreographed or danced with artists like Mariah Carey, MYA, Busta Rhymes) at Broadway Dance Centre and the now defunct Fazil's Dance studios in New York City. He has also trained with house dancers during his stay in NYC, such as Suguru (member of The House Dance Project) and Hideki (house dance winner of BBoy Hodown 2006 and Juste Debout Japan 2009). His NYC experience of the people and the places inspires him to share and develop the scene back in Sydney. He has also taken Locking workshops with Sugapop (Electric Boogaloos) and Greg Campbellock jr. (The Lockers).
Rodrigo has performed and choreographed for many dance competitions and club events with his students as well as taught some So You Think You Can Dance performers. Apart from house dance, he has solid foundations in other street dances such as b-boying, locking, freestyle hip hop and capoeira.
Rodrigo is glad to see house dance's rising popularity over the last two years in Sydney as well as the energy and joy that is shared between party people.
